Description

A safe and respectful work environment is not only good for business - it’s the law. In the tourism and hospitality industry, where workplaces extend far beyond traditional office spaces, it's essential for all workers to understand how to recognize, respond to, and report bullying, harassment, and violence wherever it may occur.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
This training provides practical guidance on identifying disrespectful behaviours, understanding legal rights and responsibilities under WorkSafeBC, and action to help prevent harm in the workplace. Participants will gain tools to help create a positive work culture grounded in respect, safety, and inclusivity.

The course includes three modules:
  • Bullying and Harassment: Learn how to recognize unacceptable conduct, respond appropriately, and understand your rights and protections.
  • Violence in the Workplace: Understand what constitutes violence, how to assess risk, and what steps to take in case of an incident and know how and when to report incidents.
  • Creating an Inclusive Workplace: Explore diversity, challenge stereotypes, and promote a respectful and welcoming environment for everyone.

WHO'S IT FOR:
This course is designed for workers across all areas of the tourism and hospitality industry—from front-line staff and servers to housekeepers, kitchen teams, and support staff. Whether you work in a hotel, restaurant, resort, or campground, this course will help you understand your role, rights and responsibilities in building a safe and respectful work environment.
