This course provides a foundational overview of how to identify and address unsafe or hazardous conditions through conducting effective workplace inspections. Participants will be introduced to the roles and responsibilities of individuals in the inspection process. The course also outlines how to develop clear written instructions, determine inspection frequency, and ensure appropriate training for those conducting inspections. Through practical examples, learners will build a solid introduction to the key skills needed for effective workplace inspections.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of this element, learners will be able to: 
  • Describe the responsibilities of the employer, supervisor and workers in regard to identifying and reporting unsafe or hazardous work conditions
  • Describe the different types of inspections conducted in the workplace
  • Explain how to develop written instructions that clearly outline what is to be inspected and the frequency of these inspections
  • Describe the training required for employees assigned to carry out inspections
  • Explain the system of record keeping for regular inspections

  • Individuals seeking an introduction to workplace inspections and those planning to progress to go2HR’s Workplace Inspections and Incident Investigations course
  • Supervisors and managers responsible for ensuring regular inspections are completed
  • JHSC members participating in workplace inspections
  • Individuals responsible for developing or maintaining inspection checklists and protocols
