Through interactive exercises and industry examples, this course guides learners through the process of identifying hazards and assessing risks in the workplace. Participants will learn how to use a risk rating system, apply the hierarchy of controls, and effectively communicate risk assessments to workers. The course also explores how to implement hazard controls and evaluate their effectiveness to ensure continuous improvement in workplace safety.
 
LEARNING OUTCOMES: 
By the end of this element, learners will be able to: 
  • Use a risk rating system to analyze different jobs, equipment and environments
  • Apply the hierarchy of controls to different workplace hazards
  • Communicate about the risk assessment process to all employees
  • Consider how to implement different controls and evaluate their effectiveness 

TARGET AUDIENCE: 
  • Individuals responsible for leading OHS and/or the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program
  • Members of the joint health and safety committee (JHSC)
  • COR Internal Auditors or others who need continuing professional development hours (i.e. CRSP, CPHR, and CHSC)
